Veins upon our skin

The tell-tale signs of a life lived within

Every crevice reaped and sowed

Created by our lives that flow

Scars upon

our chests and feet

Lines that lead

Too wounds cut deep

Bereft of former glories

Our younger selves

Hopes and dreams.

Instead the lines of true lives lived

Damages of furrows and forgotten boroughs

Touches and sounds

Vibrate through all

Making skin crawl

From an eternal brawl

A moment or two

Remain in your head

Like a weight of lead

Unable to see further

Through the signs of a past

Longing for something

New and Steadfast

A touch of a hand

Fresh skin on skin

A finger down a spine

Hallowed be thine

Wash upon wash

Cleansing the soul of our skin

A constant reminder

Of a life lived within

Born in England I've had the wonderful opportunity of living and working in many different countries throughout my life
